Grandmother's Gift (A Sea of Stories: Tales from Sulu)

Grandmother's Gift is part of  A Sea of Stories  collection that were written with the Sulu Seas and its environs as its subject. It was commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund in 1998 s part of its Sulu-Sulawesi Sea Project. The Sulu-Sulawesi Marine Region is considered the global center of marine biodiversity that includes the Coral Triangle. It encompasses a million square kilometers of land and sea area occupied by three nations--Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia. There are about 40 million people who depend on its biodiversity for their livelihood. These three countries have recently agreed to work together to ensure that this region is protected and preserved for future generations.
